The postpartum period is often portrayed as a joyful time, but for many new parents, it can also bring unexpected emotional, physical, and mental challenges. Postpartum struggles can include mood swings, anxiety, exhaustion, feelings of overwhelm, or a deep sense of sadness or disconnection. Some may experience postpartum depression or anxiety, while others may simply feel like they’ve lost a sense of themselves.
These feelings are more common than you might think—and they don’t mean you’re failing as a parent. Hormonal shifts, sleep deprivation, changes in identity, and the pressures of caregiving all play a role. Whether you're a first-time parent or adding to your family, it's okay to ask for support.
